“The motorway has been closed in both directions between Crawley and Pease Pottage after a transit-size van and a moving crane collided on the northbound on-slip of the motorway at Junction 10A, the Maidenbower junction, just before 7.10am.

“Both drivers are reported to be injured and both southbound and northbound carriageways are being closed to allow the air ambulance to land.”

Sussex Police say drivers should avoid the area, following diversions if necessary, or allow extra time for their journey.
