Magistrates' Court round-up

The following are court results for the Observer area from Hastings Magistrates' Court from January 21 to January 28.

January 21:

Ryan Etherton (aged 39), of Linley Close, Hastings, was jailed for 12 weeks after pleading guilty to stealing meat and food products worth £148 from Morrisons in Hastings on January 7. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of using threatening behaviour on the same date. Magistrates said the reason for sending him to prison was because of his previous record and failing to engage with probation services.

Lewis Hayward (aged 20), of Holliers Hill, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving an Alfa Romeo T-Spark on Holliers Hill, on October 11 last year, without due care and attention. He also pleaded guilty to charges of having no licence and no insurance. He was fined a total of £410 and banned from driving for six months.

January 22:

Jeffrey Ashman (aged 44), of Earl Street, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on Tower Road West, St Leonards, on July 22 last year with cannabis in his blood stream. He was given a one year conditional discharge and banned from driving for 12 months.

Andrew Killington (aged 39), of Hollington Old Lane, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. The offence took place at St George’s Road, Hastings, on October 9. He was fined £70. The court also made a restraining order.

Jamie Marroum (aged 31), of Wellington Gardens, Battle, was found guilty of using threatening behaviour and damaging an automatic door belong to McDonalds. The offences took place in Hastings on October 3. He was fined a total of £350 and ordered to pay £250 in compensation.

January 27:

Roman Balaz (aged 33), of Bohemia Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Mondeo on Filsham Road, on January 9 while more than twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 81 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £200 and was banned from driving for 38 months.

Tommy Reed (aged 35), of Cooden Drive, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Mini car while disqualified. The offence took place on Cooden Drive on January 10. He was sentenced to prison for nine weeks suspended for two years. The court also made a community order.

Tracey Tallman (aged 50), of Millham Close, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan Micra on Buckhurst Road, Bexhill on January 9, while more than three times over the drink-drive limit. She gave a breath alcohol reading of 127 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. She was banned from driving for three years. The court also made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement.

Rosanna Butcher (aged 34), of Deerton Street, Sittingbourne, Kent, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating and a charge of failing to comply with bail. The offences took place at Camber Sands Leisure Park, New Lydd Road, Camber , on August 5. She was given an 18 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

January 28:

Matthew Buckland (aged 30), of Battle Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating. The offences took place at Battle Road on November 8. The court made a community order with a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work. They also issued a restraining order and ordered him to pay £100 compensation.
