Magistrates' Court round-up

January 19:

Zaki Rahman (aged 29), of Jameson Road, Bexhill, was sentenced to 13 weeks in prison suspended for one year after pleading guilty to being in breach of a restraining order. The offence took place at Bexhill on November 15. He was also found guilty of causing damage to a front door at Bexhill on the same date. The court made a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £40 compensation.

Stavri Panikos Stavri (aged 33), of Fairlight Road, Hastings, was found guilty of using a mobile phone while driving. The offence took place on Bexhill Road, St Leonards on October 2 2014. He was fined £220 and his driving record was endorsed with three points.

January 20 :

Anwar Bedman (aged 22), or Cornwallis Street, Hastings, pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis. The offence took place at Queens Road, Hastings, on December 4. He was fined £120.

Anthony Black (aged 27), of Hughenden Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving without a licence. The offences took place at Ashford Road, Hastings, on January 4. He was fined £300 and banned from driving for 12 months.

Mark Perry (aged 29), of St Peters Crescent, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus car on Terminus Avenue, Bexhill, on January 1, while twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 74 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop for a police officer. He was fined £250 and banned from driving for 36 months.

Aaron Pratt (aged 33), of Bexhill Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath when required by police. He also pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Megane car, on Sea Road, Bexhill, on December 11, without a licence or insurance and failing to stop after an accident. The court made a community order with a requirement for 120 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for 20 months.

Lauren Brewer (aged 28), of Battle Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing a television worth £129 from Tesco in St Leonards on January 4. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £129 compensation.

Dean Ransom (aged 25), of Brightling Avenue, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a BMW 320 car on the A22 at Hailsham on November 7 while under the influence of drugs. He also admitted driving without a licence and no insurance. He was fined £100 and banned from driving for 12 months.

Adrian Fylan (aged 33), of Stockleigh Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to a charge of racially aggravated assault and a further charge of assaulting a woman by beating. The offences took place at Hastings on October 17 last year. The court made a community order with a six week electronically monitored curfew between 9pm and 6am. They also ordered him to pay £150 in compensation.

Benjamin Holewell (aged 29) of Douce Grove, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. The offence took place at Hastings on October 3 last year. He was fined £200.

Jodie Oprey (aged 21), of Blackman Avenue, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a blood specimen to police when required to do so by police. The offence took place at Hastings on June 4 last year. She was fined £200 and banned from driving for 16 months.
