Magistrates' Court round-up

January 8:

Alan Palmer (aged 32), of Sutherland Avenue, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating. The offence took place at Robertson Street, Hastings, on October 3 last year. The court made a community order with a three month, electronically tagged curfew at weekends between 7pm and 6am.

January 12:

Thomas Muir (aged 20), of Brittany Road, St Leonards, was found guilty of stealing £60 cash. The offence took place at Churchwood Drive, St Leonards, on June 16 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 120 hours unpaid work and ordered him to pay £60 compensation.

January 13:

Charlotte Harvey (aged 35), of Reginald Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to causing £400 damage to a motor vehicle. She also pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating and a charge of harassment be sending text messages of an abusing and threatening nature. The offences took place in Bexhill last year. The court made a community order with 60 hours of unpaid work and ordered her to pay £350 compensation. It also made a restraining order.

Daniel Moon (aged 25), of Blackman Avenue, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to causing damage to a glass entrance door at the Esso service station at Glyne Gap, Bexhill, on December 30 last year. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

Johnathan Paulin (aged 24), of Stockleigh Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance and charges of failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident. The offences took place at Church Road, and Warrior Gardens, St Leonards, on September 29 last year. He was fined £250 and banned from driving for six months.

Laurentino Postu (aged 27), of Winchester Road, London, pleaded guilty to stealing 17 bottles of vodka, worth £517, from Asda at St Leonards, on December 28 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 120 hours unpaid work.

John Sinden (aged 19), of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly at Mann Street, Hastings on December 26 last year. He also admitted to being in possession of the Class A drug methylamphetamine and causing £180 damage to a police cell. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge, fined 50 and ordered to pay £180 compensation.

January 14:

Christopher Chester (aged 40), of Marline Drive, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place at St Leonards, on December 31 last year and to obstructing a police officer. He was fined £250.

January 15:

Alish Yalmaz (aged 45), of Queens Road, Hastings, was found guilty of a charge of harassing a woman by attending her home address, banging on her door and leaving flowers and a note. The offences took place at Hastings between February and May last year. He was fined £315 and the court issues a restraining order.

Jason Sharrat (aged 50), of Pottingfield Road, Rye, was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The offence took place at Rye on June 17 last year. He was sentenced to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for two years. The court said the reason for the sentence was because the victim required seven stitches and lost consciousness. The court also made a community order with a requirement of 200 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £350 compensation.
