Magistrates’ Court round-up

The following are court results from Hastings Magistrates’ Court from September 15 - 17.

September 15:

Adrian Lennox (aged 36) of St James Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a kitchen knife at the social services offices at Cavendish House, Breeds Place, Hastings, on July 31. He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. Magistrates also imposed a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work.

September 16:

Jacob Burge (aged 25), of Southlands Avenue, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to supplying a quantity of cannabis. He also pleaded guilty to two charges of being in possession of and supplying tramadol, a Class C drug. Magistrates made a community order with a requirement of 60 hours unpaid work.

Alllan Butler (aged 27) of Benedcists Avenue, Gravesend, Kent, pleaded guilty to causing £100 damage to a Seat Ibiza vehicle parked at harold Road, Hastings, on August 31. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 in compensation.

Kevin Cox (aged 25) of Battle Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to making off in order to avoid paying a £12.50 taxi charge at St Leonards on August 26. He was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £12.50 compensation.

June Ward (aged 55) of Wickham Avenue, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to stealing ladies make-up, worth £84, from Boots in Bexhill on August 18. She was given a six month conditional discharge.

September 17:

Karyl Sebastyn (aged 28), of Plurenden Lane, High Halden, Kent, was fined £2,440 in relation to seven offences committed while driving a goods vehicle on Sedlescombe Road North, Hastings, on August 28.

He was found guilty, in his absence, of not having an operators licence to drive a vehicle of that class, having no insurance and driving a vehicle with various ‘dangerous defects’ including two tyres which had the ply or cord exposed. He was also found guilty of not keeping records. As well as the fine magistrates disqualified him for driving until he has passed a test.
