Mais House Christmas fair and 101th birthday celebration for Alix

The Christmas fair at Mais House was an event for everyone - residents, families, staff, and volunteers.

The event included games, stalls and fun and it seemed practically everyone at the home had a hand in making it a success.

Matron Sue Jones said: "It went very well indeed. The residents were really able to join in and they had a great time. We had all sorts of stalls, a chocolate foundtain, homemade jams and preserves, greetings cards and gifts, and plenty of games such as Play Your Cards Right and Bagatelle.

"We were helped by residents, relatives, volunteers, amenities committee members, staff, and management. It was very much a team effort."

The fair coincided with another important event - the 101th birthday celebration of resident Alix Walker whose family joined her to mark the occasion.

Sue commented: "We made sure she had a little presentation and a lovely day. She is delightful, such a good natured lovely lady who chats away to herself all the time."
