SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: The Head, Mrs O' Donoghue, says, '˜It was lovely to receive some very positive feedback about our children's behaviour at their weekly swimming lesson from customers at the Lewes Leisure Centre. They commented on how well the Year 5 children listened to their teacher and how polite they were. Well done to the Jade Jaguar class.' This week, Year 4 classes have both been out on trips. The Lemon Lions have taken part in an exciting survival day at Plumpton College, building shelters and fires and finding our how to survive in the wilderness. The Lemon Leopards have spent the day at the Railway Land as part of the 468 project that is being run across the schools in the town. They have documented what is at the Railway land and made a film about it so they can compare it when they return in Year 6 and then Year 8. Thanks to John Parry of the Railway Land for organising such a huge and important project. Today, Friday, is the school's annual Grandparents Tea Party. It is a real treat for the children to invite their grandparents to school to show them their work and then sing for them while they enjoy a cup of tea. The school staff hope the grandparents enjoy it as much as the children do.

SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: This Sunday’s service is looking at the period before Christ’s crucifixion, when he was preparing to ride into Jerusalem and is an informal Communion Service. This is where the usually lengthy preparatory period for the communion service is shortened, without losing its solemnity, and the service seeks to be as inclusive as it can be, so that visitors and non-Christians can feel welcome within the whole service, without damaging its special nature, which Jesus himself asked the disciples to institute and follow regularly. All are welcome. The service begins at 9.30am.
