SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: Last Sunday we held the first of a series of Family Services we are planning to have in South Malling School. This is a new venture for us and it was a very encouraging start, with a lively and friendly service with lots of input from the children. The next service in school will be on May 8. Sunday is Palm Sunday, with a communion service at 9.30am led by Rev Jeremy Bamber, and marks the beginning of Holy Week, when we will be holding two more unusual services at South Malling. On Maundy Thursday at 7.30pm there will be a short communion service, followed by Tenebrae. This involves short readings focusing on the events leading to the arrest of Jesus, and during these readings the lights are gradually turned off until by the end of the service, the church is in complete darkness. At 10am on Good Friday we have a short reflective Iona style service focusing on the crucifixion. On Easter Saturday we are holding a popular children's craft morning in church from 9.30am to 11.30am. The busy week concludes with a joyful Morning Praise service on Easter Sunday at 9.30am which includes a children's Easter egg hunt. All are welcome.
