Malling

SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: The school's Learning Journey this term, Bookworms, as the name suggests, is a literary theme focusing on reading, writing, design, art and most importantly, storytelling. The school will be hosting a story reading afternoon with parents; the Year 3 class will perform their version of the Iron Man and there will be a shared reading session where paired classes come and share the books they have made with each other. Each year South Malling School celebrates World Book Day. Reading is important all year round but the children really enjoy having a week with some special events to look forward to. All week Grandparents are invited to come to school daily from 2.50pm to read to children. Today, Friday, there are special events: Children are invited to dress as their favourite book character and also to bring with them the book that their character comes from. Drop Everything and Read: During the day a bell will ring and everyone will stop and read. This term the school is thrilled to welcome back Miss Matthews who leads Guitar Club. This club will start up again on Wednesday lunchtimes and is for Years 4 and 6.

SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: (A Trinity Church), will be celebrating Mothering Sunday this coming Sunday, within its service of Holy Communion. The Service will be conducted by Revd Dick Field, from St John sub Castro and our Reader, Ian Graham will be preaching. All are welcome. The service begins at 9.30am and there is a Sunday Club for children.
