MAN ADMITS HELPING WIFE COMMIT SUICIDE

A CRAWLEY man has pleaded guilty to assisting the suicide of his seriously-ill wife.

Robert Cook (59) admitted aiding and abetting the suicide of his wife Vanessa, who had multiple sclerosis, at their home in Camber Close on October 19 last year. But he denied murdering her when he appeared at a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court.

Prosecutor Warwick Tatford said the not guilty plea was unacceptable to the Crown.
