A 60-year-old Bognor Regis man was robbed and sexually assaulted along the town's seafront.

The male was outside the Royal Norfolk Hotel on Aldwick Road, opposite the skatepark, when the crimes took place.

PC Trevor Pritchard, who is investigating the offence, said yesterday: “Although the victim wasn’t physically injured, he was left extremely distressed and scared by what happened.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened that night, or who has information about it.

“We are also anxious to trace the man who stopped to offer assistance as he did not leave a name or call the police.

“He is described as being about 23 years old, perhaps a little bit older, about 6ft tall, with broad shoulders, and wearing a leather jacket.”

Details about the attack were released yesterday, though it happened about 11.40pm on Saturday, March 31.

The victim was approached by a woman. She spoke to him before he noticed another man nearby.

He became nervous and went to walk on but the woman grabbed one of his arms to stop him. She pulled him close by forcing his right arm behind her and made him hold her bottom before she touched him.

She took his wallet from his coat pocket and threw it her accomplice who took £25 before he threw it back.

The victim asked for the return of his money but the couple denied taking it. A male passer-by stopped and asked the victim if he was all right but he became scared and walked off.
