Man appeals for return of gold ring lost in town centre

A BATTLE man has appealed for the return of a gold ring which was lost in the town centre last week.

Mark Blackman’s father lost the ring somewhere between the Market car parks and Martin Oaks Surgery in High Street, Battle, last Friday evening (May 10).

The cygnet ring, engraved with the initials WB, has great sentimental value to the family.

A reward is available for the safe return of the missing ring.

Mr Blackman, of St Mary’s Lawn, Battle Hill, told the Observer: “Unfortunately my father lost a heavy gold ring, cygnet type with the initials WB, on Friday 10 May somewhere between the Market Car park and Martins Oak Surgery between 6–7pm.

“The ring originally belonged to my grandfather who lived and ran his coal business in Battle and was handed on to my father.

“My dad has lived and worked all his life in Battle and believes that with the help of others that the ring may be found.”
