Man arrested after crash near Horsham

Sussex Police say they were called to the Robin Hood roundabout shortly after 9.30pm on Wednesday, after a car crashed into a lamp-post, and moments later was struck by another car.

The first car was a silver BMW 330. The driver, described by police as a 27-year-old man from Brighton, was shocked but unhurt.

A statement from police said: “The driver of the second car, a blue Vauxhall Vectra, ran off into trees in the direction of Rookwood Golf Course.

“Officers assisted by a dog unit and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service searched the area and a man found walking south along the A24 was identified as the second driver.

“Both motorists provided negative breath tests.”

A 29-year-old man from South Norwood, London, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
