Man arrested after crashing into Barcombe school playground

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after crashing into Barcombe Primary School playground this morning (Thursday, April 21).

Sussex Police were called at around 10.30am to reports a white van had collided with a wall at School Field.

The driver had minor injuries to his face. No other injuries were reported.

A 55-year-old man from the local area has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He remains in custody at this time.

Jessica Gaskell, who posted photographs of the smash on social media, said: “He smashed through the wall of the children’s playground. He is very lucky our children weren’t on their break time.”
