Man arrested after woman dies in flats blaze
POLICE have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a 42-year-old woman died in a fire at a flat in Sackville Road, Bexhill.
Firefighters were called to the scene in the early hours of this morning (Monday May 23) at around 12.18am.
Three fire engines and an aerial ladder were immediately dispatched. Firefighters used three hosereel jets, a main jet and breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze, which was in a flat on the first floor.
The woman was rescued from the building, but paramedics were unable to save her.
