Man arrested after woman raped in Crawley park

A Horsham man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in a Crawley park.

Police were called to Goffs Park on Saturday (February 27).

A police spokesman said: “A 26-year-old woman was punched and then raped between 1.30am and 3am in the early hours of Saturday. A 21-year-old man from Horsham was arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody at this time.”

An earlier police appeal said: “The victim, a 26-year-old local woman, met two men in Brighton Road, Crawley near ASDA before going into the park with one of them.

“It was reported that sometime between 1.30am and 3am the suspect punched the victim and raped her. She managed to run off but was followed by the man to Springfield Road where he sexually assaulted her.”
