Man arrested on suspicion of Bognor Regis rape

POLICE have arrested a man as part of a rape investigation in Bognor Regis town centre.

The 42-year-old Bognor man was arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in the Sunken Gardens, Waterloo Square, in the early hours of Saturday (October 3), said Sussex Police.

Police said a 26-year-old woman reported she was subjected to what was called a ‘prolonged assault’ at around 2am.

The 42-year-old was arrested later that evening and has been released on police bail until November 28.

Sgt Alan Fenn urged anyone potential witnesses to come forward by either emailing [email protected] or calling 101 and quoting reference 0168 of October 3.
