Man assaulted after confronting youths in Littlehampton

A MAN was assaulted in Littlehampton after he told a group of youths to stop messing around with residents’ bins.

The 66-year-old man spoke to the group of about five youths before he was pushed in the back by one of them, causing him to fall to the floor. He was then punched in the face, which resulted in extensive bruising to his eye.

The incident happened at about 7.45pm on Monday, March 21, in the pathway at the back of Wickbourne Court in Clun Road.

The attacker is described as being white, about 15 to 17 years of age, approximately 5ft 8in tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering on the front – which was ripped during the assault – and dark coloured jeans.

Following the incident, the group walked off in the direction of Helyers Green, Littlehampton.
