A police spokesman said: “The victim was sleeping in his car between 12.30am and 1am when he was woken by three men getting into his vehicle. They stole a HP laptop, punched him in the face and grabbed his neck before leaving in a large dark-coloured hatchback which drove off towards Chichester.

The victim suffered scratching and bruising on his neck and has lost four teeth.

The men are described as being between 25 and 30. Two of them had fair hair, one had dark hair and all three of them spoke with a foreign accent.”

Detective Constable Louise Clark said: “Please get in contact if you have any information. This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent man who was simply trying to get some sleep.”
