Man assaulted at Camber

A MAN was punched and kicked by a gang at Camber after he accidentally bumped into one of them.

The vicious assault took place outside a shop in Old Lydd Road, Camber, at around 1.45pm on Saturday 15 October.

The victim, in his 40s, bumped into one of the suspects as he was carrying water and was then punched and kicked by all four suspects. He suffered grazes following the assault.

The suspects ran from the scene and were seen to drive away in a silver Mercedes.

Sergeant Tony Webb from the Response Investigation Team in Hastings said: “I am appealing for witnesses to what appears to be an unprovoked assault.

“If anyone witnessed any suspicious behaviour at the time of the assault they should contact police immediately.”

A 23-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm (ABH); a 26-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of ABH and possession of cannabis; and a 35-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of ABH.

All three suspects have been released on police bail pending further inquiries until 19 November.
