Man badly hurt in lorry crash

A KENT man suffered serious head injuries following a crash between two cars on the A21.

The accident happened at around 1.15pm on Friday on the stretch of road at Kent Street, near Sedlescombe.

A blue Saab convertible, heading north towards London, collided head on with a black Mitsubishi drop side lorry heading south.

The driver of the Saab, a 52-year-old man from Whitstable, suffered a serious head injury in the crash.

He was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings for treatment.

His passenger, an 18-year-old Woking man, was also treated at the Conquest for a back injury.

He was discharged later the same day.

The lorry driver, a 27-year-old man from Rainham, Kent, was not injured in the accident.

It is the fourth serious accident on the A21 locally in the space of a month.

Two people were injured when a two cars collided by the Royal Oak at Whatlington on Saturday November 3.

On Sunday October 28, a 29-year-old Hastings man was hospitalised following a hit and run incident, also at Whatlington.

And on Sunday October 21, a man died when his car collided with a bend, also near the Royal Oak at Whatlington.

Police are appealing for information following the latest accident.
