Man charged over Bexhill shopkeeper's murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a Bexhill shopkeeper.

Gerry Palmer, 50, of Powdermill Lane, Battle, has been charged with the murder of Carrie Izzard who worker at Battle Tackle in Ninfield Road.

She was found dead at her home in West End, Herstmonceux, on Monday (21 March).

A post mortem examination has revealed the cause of death as stab wounds to the neck.

Palmer was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, after being found with injuries on the same day.

Following treatment he was discharged from hospital but immediately arrested.

Palmer appeared before Brighton magistrates today (Thursday, March 24) and was remanded in custody to appear at Hove Crown Court on Tuesday, March 29.
