Man died at Cranleigh Show, police report

A man was found dead at the Cranleigh Show on Sunday morning, police have confirmed.

Although the cause of death is still being investigated, police are not currently treating it as suspicious.

A statement from the organisers said: “Cranleigh and South East Agricultural Society was shocked and saddened by the death of one of our elderly supporters following his collapse in the carpark,

“Emergency services tried hard to save him and we would like to thank everyone involved for their professionalism, patience and understanding.

A Surrey Police representative said: “Surrey Police attended the Cranleigh Show following the death of an elderly man at the event.

“Officers were called to the location at around 11.40am on Sunday, 21 June.

“South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but at this stage in the investigation there is not believed to be any third party involvement. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
