Man dies in Brighton collision - police appealing for witnesses

Police investigating a fatal collision in Brighton are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Sussex Police said officers, ambulance and fire crews were called to Wilson Avenue at 6am on Wednesday (June 17) to reports of a black Vauxhall Corsa hitting a lamppost and a parked vehicle.

Police said the driver of the car - a 21-year-old man from Sidcup - was confirmed dead at the scene.

According to officers, one of three passengers in the vehicle - a woman in her 20s - was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road is closed, police say, while enquiries are underway.

Anyone who witnessed what happened or saw the car prior to the collision is asked to report to police online or call 101, quoting Operation Hawkswood.
