Man dies in Washington crash

A MAN died when his Mercedes convertible car left the road in Washington on Wednesday evening.

The car was travelling southbound on the A24 in the vicinity of North Farm and Windlesham House school when the accident occurred at around 6.50pm.

No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.

The driver - believed to be in his fifties or sixties - died at the scene.

Fire crews from Worthing and Ferring were despatched to the crash site to join investigating police.
