Man fined for being drunk and disorderly

A 52-year-old man arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Hastings town centre has been ordered to pay £178 by a court.

Michael Reid, of Mount Pleasant Road, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on July 22. He was fined £73 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85. The court heard that on July 21 PCSO Robert Sears had found Reid disobeying a ban on street drinking and had poured away the alcohol. Then at 1.30pm PCSO Carlos Fernando had found Reid and another man lying drunk on the ground in Robertson Street. Reid began using foul language when asked to move on, despite the presence of passers-by, including children.
