Police are appealing for witnesses after a man had an ammonia substance sprayed into his eyes in Seaford.

The 32-year-old victim from Seaford was sitting in his friend’s van in the High Street at about 10.25pm on Monday (November 16) when two men knocked on the vehicle window.

He wound the window down and a liquid was squirted into his eyes. He then went into a nearby pub for help and an ambulance was called.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, for treatment, where he is still being assessed.

Sergeant Kevin Leete said: “This was a nasty attack which has left the victim in considerable pain. We are still trying to establish a motive but would like to hear from anyone who saw the assault or has any information about it.”

Contact police by emailing or ring 101 quoting serial 1680 of 16/11.
