Man injured on Bognor Regis seafront

POLICE are trying to discover how a man sustained serious head injuries on Bognor Regis seafront.

At 3.40am on bank holiday Monday (May 27), officers were called to the Esplanade near the town’s pier, after a 21-year-old man was found lying on a bench.

The victim, who is from Lancashire, had been visiting friends locally.

He has suffered head injuries which include a fractured skull.

He was taken to St Richards Hospital, Chichester, where his injuries have been assessed as serious but not currently life threatening.

Detective constable, Neil James, of Sussex Police said: “It is not clear at this stage how the injuries were sustained and we are investigating the possibility that they were the result of an assault.

“We are asking anyone who was around the pier area early on Monday morning and who saw anything suspicious, to call us via 101 quoting serial 0154 of 27/5.
