Man jailed for horrific knife attack on friend

A Sedlescombe man has been jailed after repeatedly slashing his friend in an horrific two-and-a-half hour attack.

The victim had invited Mark Patterson back to his home in Mistley Close in Bexhill to play computer games when he launched his vicious attack.

Patterson, 32, of Eastview Terrace, Sedlescombe, denied a charge of causing grievous bodily harm but was found guilty following a two-day trial at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday February 12. But a jury found him guilty and he was jailed for six and a half years.

The 31 year old victim told police that the attack was unprovoked, claiming that Patterson had ‘lost it’.

The injured man sustained knife wounds to his neck, arms and torso. He was taken to the Conquest Hospital, Hastings, and treated for his wounds, which have resulted in permanent nerve damage.

The ordeal began when Patterson pulled out a Stanley knife. Over a prolonged period, he would stop and attend his victim’s wounds and then start attacking him again.

This went on went on until the victim managed to get out of the house and an ambulance was called at 3.40am. Patterson was later arrested.
