A man who is missing from his yacht is understood to be Leonard George King from Alfriston, according to the BBC.

A huge rescue operation is underway after his yacht Sunseeker arrived at Brighton Marina with no-one on board last night (November 9).

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency was contacted at around 9.50pm last night with reports that the man was missing from his boat.

A search was launched and continues this morning.

The Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard Rescue Teams, along with lifeboats from Shoreham, Newhaven and Brighton are all involved with the search, along with the Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-Solent.

Sussex Police said: “Police were made aware at 12.15am on Monday (November 10) that a boat had drifted into the marina wall at Brighton. However there was no-one on board. Police are assisting with land based enquiries.”

Three lifeboats and two coastguard helicopters have been involved in the search for the yachtsman since shortly after 10pm on Sunday.

Mr King’s Sunseeker yacht is believed to have been on autopilot when it returned to the marina.
