Man on Sidley murder bid charge

A 44-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of another man in Sidley.

Alexander Thomas Wicks, of Elderwood Close, Sidley, appeared before Hastings magistrates last Friday, charged with the attempted murder of 48-year-old Michael Leeman in Glovers Lane, Sidley.

Wicks was remanded to Lewes Prison until his preliminary Crown Court appearance on September 5.

Mr Leeman, from Tackleway, Hastings, is still in a critical condition at the Conquest Hospital following the incident at 8pm on August 22.

He was taken to hospital with a single stab wound to his abdomen and operated on that same night.

The incident occurred in the street at 8pm on August 22 and was witnessed by many people and children in the street on the sunny evening.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident.
