Man robbed by masked attacker in Peacehaven

Police are appealing for witnesses to a street robbery committed by a masked man in Peacehaven.

Between 12.38am and 1.10am on Thursday (April 7), a man in his 20s was walking along Balcombe Road when he became aware of someone behind him.

Moments later, as he approached the junction with Malines Avenue, he was punched to the face, causing him to fall to the ground. The attacker then proceeded to punch and kick the victim to the face and upper body.

The victim reported a Nokia mobile phone, a set of keys and £70 in cash being stolen.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, about 5’ 7”, of slim build with short blonde hair. He was dressed in all dark clothing and wore a green and white face mask which covered his nose and mouth.

A 25-year-old man from Peacehaven has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and bailed until June 20 pending further enquiries.
