POLICE have identified the man who was tragically found dead in the river in Hamsey, Lewes, on Tuesday morning, 13 March.
He is Dennis Boddy, aged 64, from Redhill, Surrey.
Mr Boddy’s death is not being treated as suspicious. A post mortem has taken place and further tests are being carried out to ascertain just how he died.
A police spokesman said: “We are investigating the circumstances of Mr Boddy’s tragic death and are keen to talk to anyone who may have seen him in the days before he was found. We know he had been staying at a hotel in Brighton but would like to know his whereabouts since he left the hotel on Saturday.
“By issuing his description we hope that people may have seen him in the days before his death. I would ask them to come forward with any information they have.”
Mr Boddy was wearing black clothing, including boots, short jacket, scarf, jeans and carried two rucksacks. He had grey short hair, was 5ft 9in and of medium built.
