Man suffers head injury during taxi fare dispute in Worthing

A MAN suffered a serious head injury during a dispute over taxi fare in Worthing town centre.

Police were called to an incident in Chapel Road, shortly before 9.30pm on Tuesday, in which a 54-year-old Chichester man had sustained a serious head injury.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance attended, landing on Worthing beach.

Initially, it was feared the injury may have been life-threatening but after paramedics assessed the injuries he was taken to Worthing Hospital for treatment.

A 40-year-old Rustington man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently being detained for questioning. Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting 1432 of 24/3.
