MAN THREATENED IN SWORD WAVING INCIDENT

A MAN waved a three-foot sword and a two-foot scaffolding pole at another man in Cornwallis Gardens.

The victim screamed and ran off and a person living in the area called the police after the incident on Sunday, August 31, at 5.45pm.

Investigating officer, PC David Gill, said the swordsman followed the man into Cambridge Road and he was arrested and the sword later found in White Rock Road.

He is believed to have walked up Dorset Place or Prospect Place before ditching the sword.

PC Gill said: "This man is a threat to public safety given the fact he is walking around with a sword in his hand. We are trying to get witnesses to come forward, especially the man who was threatened and then ran off."
