Manslaughter charges after man falls through roof in Bognor Regis

A man has been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence after his employee died while working on a roof in Bognor Regis.

Richard James, 36, of First Avenue, Worthing, who is managing director of Southern Property Maintenance Limited, is due to appear at Chichester Magistrates' Court on 24 September.

Shane Offer, 21, of Annweir Avenue, Lancing, was working on the roof of Rosebys store in the Peel Centre, Shripney Road, Bognor, when he fell through a skylight on 2 June, 2009.

He was flown to The Royal London Hospital for treatment but died from his injuries.
