Jenny, from Iden, is running in the London Marathon on Sunday to raise money for St John Ambulance.

She was supported by Michael, who has three cannons in the garden of his Rye Hill home, including a 24 pounder in Nelson’s colours and a three ton 32 pounder from HMS Trincomalee.

A delighted Jenny said: “We had around 50 people there and raised £300 towards which almost takes me to my £ 1,600 target.

“All three cannons were fired and I was lucky enough to fire one of them myself. Rum and lemonade were served to spectators and there was a tombola as well.

“Training has been helped enormously by Sam and Jeff at Rye Runners and I am hoping to get round in under 5 hours having done it in 5 hours 11 last year.”
