Marathon effortfor salon staff

STAFF at Rye Retreat salon are looking to raise funds for Boathouse Theatre Arts by entering the Hastings Half Marathon on March 25.

Girls from the salon have gone into serious training and are busy approaching customers for sponsorship.

‘Wanted Posters’ have been going up around the Rye, Hastings and Bexhill areas where Boathouse provides performing arts for children and young people who have learning and physical disabilities.

The group has gone from strength to strength since launching at Pett Village Hall.

All money raised goes directly into Boathouse and helps provide drama sessions, pay for visiting artists, and this year will enable them to perform in a real theatre.

Chairman of Boathouse Theatre Arts Kevin Barry, said: “Rye Retreat has always been a good supporter of Boathouse and it is to their credit that they came up with this idea and put themselves forward for this physical challenge.

“I hope as many people as possible give them and Boathouse the support, as this money provides not only the opportunity to let the members take part in the performing arts, but has allowed us to become a fantastic meeting place which has become an important part of their social calendar.
