The figures, released by the Independent Newspaper, ranked Conservative MPs that had been elected to the House of Commons in May based on the number of speeches they had given in the House and the number of questions they had asked, with Ms Caulfield having posed some 33 questions and given 111 speeches in her first ten months as the Member of Parliament for Lewes.

Speaking from Westminster, Ms Caulfield said: “It is great to be recognised as someone that is regularly raising concerns that are brought to my attention by constituents with those at the very top of Government, whether it be by reading a speech or by raising a question in the House.

“I believe that this is one of the most effective ways of ensuring that constituents are properly listened to by those at the top of Government, and are forming policy that will ultimately have an impact upon our day to day lives.”
