Marie Curie benefits after Midhurst Walk Ten

The event, in aid of the cancer care charity, was held in Midhurst last September, and passed through the Cowdray Estate.

Abi Pattenden, president of Sussex County Association of Funeral Directors, said she chose to sponsor the charity in recognition of the work it does locally and nationally.

“We chose Marie Curie as our charity because my dad died of pancreatic cancer and because of the good work which the charity does in supporting people and their families when they most need it,” she said.

“I am delighted that, with the support of members of the association, and our guests who attended our dinner dance, I am able to give this donation to Marie Curie, which I know will go to excellent use.”

At the annual meeting this month, £1024 was donated to Marie Curie.

Louise Stone, regional events manager at Marie Curie, said: “The sponsorship received made a huge difference to the event and without this we would struggle to achieve and put on successful events, which raise vital funds for the charity.”
