Maritime market sails into Littlehampton

ORGANISERS of a boating sale which was almost sunk by atrocious weather last year are hoping for a fairer wind when it returns later this month.

The annual Littlehampton and Arun Boat Jumble is back at its berth on Caffyn’s Field, Beach Road, Littlehampton, on Sunday, June 16.

Organised by Sussex Boat Jumbles, with support from Littlehampton Town Council and Arun District Council, the event is in aid of the Jubilee Sailing Trust, a charity which works to bring together people of all physical abilities through the challenge and adventure of sailing tall ships on the open sea.

The charity owns and operates two tall ships, Lord Nelson and Tenacious, the only two of their kind in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side-by-side as equals.

Stalls will be selling new and second hand nautical items at huge discounts and the sale runs from 10am–3pm, with exclusive parking for visitors at the Manor House Car Park, Church Street.

Admission is £2.50 for adults and children go free but must be accompanied by an adult. For further details, including how to book a pitch, contact Alan Hide on 01903 761773.

Organisers hope the weather will be kinder than in 2012, when the event had to be moved to the car park because Caffyn’s Field was waterlogged following the heaviest rainfall in decades.
