Marked police car collision near Ringmer

AN ELDERLY COUPLE from Hailsham and two teenagers were injured after their car collided with a marked police car.

The male driver, aged 81, was driving his Honda Jazz on the B2192, Ringmer, at 4.15pm on Thursday last week, March 1.

An 80-year-old woman was next to him in the front seat, with a 16-year-old girl (from Holland) and a boy aged 14 in the back seat.

A marked BMW police car, responding to an emergency call, collided with the Honda near the New Road junction.

The elderly couple and boy suffered slight injuries and the teenage girl some minor injuries.

The girl was taken for treatment at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

Both policemen in the other car, aged 36 and 30, from Sussex Police HQ in Lewes, suffered minor injuries.

Sussex Police thanked drivers for their patient during a temporary road closure after the collision.

It was closed to one lane at the time for safety and also for police to gather evidence.

The road reopened later that day at 9pm.
