Commercial Development Projects Ltd (CDP) is preparing a planning application for a new M&S Simply Food store and a family pub on land off the A259 which, combined, could create 100 new jobs for the area.

Marks and Spencer is proposing to develop an 11,000sq ft site, which would include an in-store bakery and an café serving Fairtrade tea and coffee.

The store will also offer fresh flowers and cards on top of its food and drink lines and would create 35 new full-time jobs and 20 part-time positions.

On top of this, the new retail centre – which could have improved access from the A259, near the existing junction with Brook Lane as well as a landscaped car park– would see the pub generating a further 50 jobs.

As part of this preliminary consultation process, a public exhibition is taking place tomorrow (Friday, December 5) and on Saturday (December 6) for people to see the plans and comment on them.

The event will be staged at the Woodlands Centre, in Woodlands Avenue, Rustington, from 4pm until 7.30pm, tomorrow, and then from 11am until 2pm on Saturday.
