THE Martin Simpson Trio is a coming together of some of the finest musicians in the UK today.
Martin is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest acoustic and slide guitar players in the world
His interpretations of traditional songs are masterpieces of storytelling and his shows are intense, eclectic, spellbinding
and deeply moving.
A regular BBC Folk Awards nominee, he has been twice voted Musician of the Year and at the 2010 awards received
an unprecedented six nominations in five of the categories.
Martin will be joined by Andy Seward who takes a night off from playing with the Kate Rusby Band and Andy Cutting, renowned for his work with, amongst others, June Tabor, Chris Wood, Kate Rusby and John McCusker.
Like Simpson, Andy Cutting was also voted Musician of the Year at the BBC Folk Awards on two occasions, in 2008 and again in 2011.
And they are nominated again this year, both in the Musician of the Year category and Simpson may also take the top prize for his recently released album “Purpose and Grace”
Together this is an unstoppable combination of talent, which has taken Martin Simpson’s music to a new level.
