Police have released CCTV images of a man wanted in connection with a knifepoint robbery at a bookmakers in Eastbourne.

The masked man, armed with a knife, entered Ladbrokes in the Langney Shopping Centre at around 9.45pm on Tuesday (March 8).

He threatened a customer and two members of staff before leaving the scene shortly afterwards with £2,810 in cash.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s or 30s, about 5ft 9ins tall, wearing a black jacket with zips across both shoulders, a blue hoody covering his head, a black scarf covering his face as well as dark coloured trousers and trainers.

Chief Inspector Emma Brice said, “While this is not the first incident of its kind in the area, it is not being linked to any other crime, and we are working with bookmakers in Eastbourne to review security measures to ensure it does not happen again.

“We are also stepping up police patrols in the area at key times and at key locations in a bid to prevent further offences.

“We’re appealing for anyone with any information to contact us on [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 1542 of 08/03.”
