Vice Chairman Dorothy Smith said: “We have been awarded a Community Grant by Rother District Council to help fund this project which is called “In Living Memory”, Bexhill Old Town 1900-1925, Images and Reminiscences.

“So, our focus will be on the years 1900 to 1925 and particularly on Bexhill Old Town at that time, its houses, shops and residents. We want to know more about who lived here and what life was like and what went on.

“We would love to hear from anyone who knew anyone who lived in the Old Town during that period and who may have a story or anecdote to tell or may have a photo or a picture that they would be happy to share.

“We would also welcome contributions from local groups who can help with subjects such as the music of the time, dances, sports, games, photography, artists, etc.

“As well as the local information we will be looking at the wider national and international picture.

“As with our 1805-1815 Exhibition last year which was totally funded by the Society, we will be working with a group of young people to do interviews and record and film reminiscences and the research carried out will also build on last year’s to provide a legacy for the future.
