'I fully participated in the activities and enjoyed it immensely.

'I am keen to go back and complete the programme.

'I have looked in my diary and I can make every future session but two.'

He added: 'It is essential for us to keep fit and exercise.

'A lot of people could benefit from exercise and doing their bit to keep as well as possible.

'Freedom Leisure and other programmes do a lot of good to encourage people.

'There is a lot going on there for the community.'

Cllr Haffenden was shown around the facilities at the centre.

He was impressed by a 'fantastic' mothers-and-tots area.

He also lauded the Oasis scheme linked to local doctors who prescribe gym exercise.

The workplace health initiative is an eight-week fitness course for businesses.

Freedom Leisure is hosting the scheme with Wealden District Council in Hailsham, Uckfield and Crowborough.

The courses take place during lunch breaks or around working hours.

They cost 16 and include a light lunch.
