Mayor is set to have a ball

THE Town Mayor s Ball is fast heading for a £25-a-head sell-out.

A glittering occasion is being planned by Cllr Joanne Gadd and her husband and mayoral consort Cllr Brian Gadd in aid of the mayoral appeal.

The Mayor is chairman of the Friends of Mais House, the Royal British Legion retirement home in Hastings Road.

The appeal in aid of the friends was given a major boost in July when television personality David Dimbleby opened a garden party which raised more than 4,500.

Now only a handful of tickets remain unsold for the Friday, September 28 Mayor s Ball at the Jarvis Cooden Beach Hotel.

The 12-strong dance band from Little Common branch of the Royal British Legion will provide the music for an occasion which will be attended by the High Sheriff of East Sussex, Richard Carden and East Sussex county council chairman Cllr Michael Tunwell.

Town organisations have thrown their support behind the venture. The local branch of the Maritime Volunteer Service has booked an entire table.
