Mayor no longer has official Christmas cards

TOWN Mayor Cllr Patrick Douart has decided not to send official Christmas cards this year.

He has, instead, made a donation of 150 to his chosen charity for the year, the 9th Bexhill Scout Group.

Funds raised by the Mayor and donations by the public will be passed to the Scout Group at the end of the Mayor's official year in office in May.

It is hoped the money can go towards security measures and equipping the new Scout building in Wainwright Road.

Shirley Gilbertson, Group Scout Leader of the 9th, said: "We would like to say a very special thank you to Cllr Douart for such a thoughtful Christmas message to us all.

"His support and encouragement is much appreciated. We wish him and his family a very Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year from all the children and leaders of the Group".

Grateful thanks are passed to all those who have already helped the Mayor raise funds so far. The Mayor and Mayoress wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
