A FANTASTIC tea party with the Mayor of Polegate was enjoyed by older revellers in the town.
Polegate Town Council hosted its 5th annual free Mayor’s tea party for retired residents on Monday, December 5.
More than 100 residents came along to celebrate Christmas and enjoy the entertainment at St John’s Church Hall. Polegate Primary School’s choir sang a medley of traditional songs, whilst pupils from Willingdon Community School waited on the tables. There was excitement with a raffle and games such as pass-the-parcel.
The Mayor himself, Cllr Tim Voyce, hosted the games with a little help from Santa and diners on each table were treated to three kinds of sandwiches - mini Yorkshire with beef and horseradish, cakes, mince pies and plenty of tea, all courtesy of volunteers.
Cllr Voyce thanked those involved for helping to make the afternoon such a big success.
Some £290 had been raised for the Mayor’s charity, St Wilfrid’s Hospice, when going to press but the final total will be higher.
